Non-disclosure of HIV sero-status by Indian female sex workers

Commercial heterosexual sex is an important contributor to the HIV epidemic in India. No previous study had been done of whether female sex workers or their clients disclosed their HIV status if they had HIV. A survey found that 58% of HIV positive female sex workers and 41% of HIV-positive clients had never disclosed their HIV status to any sexual partner.
